5 Easy Tips to Avoid Adult Acne

By David Lam

Adult acne is a problem that affects almost 90% of all adolescents, and many adults as well. The acne treatment industry does billions of dollars of sales annually, but the easiest and cheapest way to treat acne, is to avoid getting it in the first place. Prevention of acne can easily be done in 5 ways.

Picking, Popping or Squeezing

Popping adult acne involves squeezing a pimple to get fluid out of it and cause acne condition to be worse. Popping acne will not allow the acne to heal faster compared to leaving the acne alone. If you pop acne, there is more of a likelihood that it will lead to permanent scarring.

Pre-tanning at a Salon

Pre-tanning is never a good idea, whether it is from the sun or a tanning bed, but it is especially true if you are using adult acne medications. As sebaceous glands are influenced by, among other things, heat and humidity, lying out in the sun or in a tanning booth may actually cause more acne breakouts. Not only that, it also may increased the risk for severe sunburn, skin damage, premature aging, and skin cancer.

Smoking

Smoking does not just cause wrinkles, it has been connected with a type of adult acne. In a study of 1,000 women, 40% of those who smoked had non-inflammatory acne, compared to only 10% of the non-smoking women who participated. Female smokers who had experienced acne during teenager will have changes of suffering four times more acne as adult.

Taking Too Much Vitamin A

Researchers has shown that vitamin A is an essential nutrient to treat adult acne. However, taking too much vitamin A can bring your liver to dangerous levels and cause serious health problems. Your dermatologist may prescribe a safer derivatives of vitamin A to treat your acne.

Use of Cosmetics

You may be using makeup to cover up existing acne, but this is just making the problem worse. If you do wear makeup, choose good quality brands and non-comodogenic products which won't clog pores, and wear your makeup lightly. Make sure to keep cosmetics, and your face in close supervision in order to prevent any breakouts.

There are popular products that can treat acne but some of them are not as effective. There is almost nothing you can do to stop an acne breakout that is already occurring, however there are methods to avoiding one in the further. Although they are completely unpredictable, but by taking the necessary steps I've talked about, you should see fast improvement during an acne breakout and reduced frequency in the never of acne breakouts. - 16755
