How Companies Are Hiring With A Recession

By Cade Krueger

As we move further into this economic recession it becomes even more important to have your pulse of the finger of larger corporations when it comes to recruiting. It is important to understand their direction with hiring, layoffs, budgeting, benefits, marketing and other things they have done and what they are planning to do during 2009.

Watson Wyatt created a survey for a variety of industries during the week of December 8th and they came up with some interesting findings. They found out what percentage of companies were making changes in 2008 and what companies anticipated making changes in 2009. This gives you a solid understanding of what is a reality and how you can avoid negative influences in your department.

If you are working with just one company for recruiting it is still important information for you to understand this information. The more knowledge you have, the more skilled you will be to make the right decisions and outperform your competition.

What is good to know is that majority of the hiring freeze and layoffs have already happened. 47% of the corporations have already performed some level of a hiring freeze and 39% have done some level of layoffs. As far as changes in the next 12 months go, only 18% are planning on a hiring freeze and 23% are looking to layoff more people.

That is a huge drop off from last year, especially for a hiring freeze. Companies are looking to hire, but they want to be more effective about it, which makes recruiting even more important.

Companies have to find high impact employees that they can leverage their efforts well to make more funds. They will hire people that others can't keep. As they say, someone's trash is always someone else's treasure.

As companies continue to look to hire people back or bring in new talent, it becomes important for you to find candidates that are sitting in the dark right now and build trust with them in a nurturing campaign. The trust you can build now will be amazing for the future.

Probably the best way to find this talent is to use recruitment advertising online on niche blogs, web sites, user forums, and any web 2.0. One of the best ways to do this is through TalentSeekr from EnticeLabs. They do a great job of branding your corporation and sourcing these candidates at their ideal sites. - 16755
