I had to go to this movie; Confessions of a Shopaholic last Friday, the 13th of February and it was a bit depressing, but cute (definitely a girlie movie) and predictable.
Credit cards at the limit...Creditors calling all hours of the day? So many of us are living from day to day and not living with high priced designer clothing. Not that it wouldn't be nice, but the average Jill (my version of the average Joe) doesn't buy the clothes Rebecca Bloomwood wore in the movie...more like Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren or Alfani. Still these clothes can add up..I know all too well.
No Denying it...I do like to shop and maybe you can call me a shopaholic. It's a must to have one or two new pieces of the latest fashion trends to mix up with last years clothes. Luckily, a lot of last summers styles are still in for this year too.
A few days ago I went to our local TJ Maxx to find some torn, acid wash skinny jeans only to find some slightly torn wide leg jeans. Disappointed yes but I didn't leave the store empty handed. I purchased a silk skirt and a black top for $43.00 to wear to my dad's 80th birthday party March 7th. Another brown top on sale for $5.00...had to have it, it matches a sweater I bought a couple weeks ago. Oh and on my way to the register, of course I found a jacket and top set for St. Patrick's Day on sale from $114.00 to $55.00. With my $10.00 rewards coupon...the total was $100.00, a steal!
Now I know I didn't need any of that stuff and to top it off I maxed my TJ Maxx card, bummer. A lot of the time it is the anticipation, just like anything else that gives us the high about shopping. Does it replace something else missing in our lives? Does it make us feel better to turn heads and make other Jills envious? I don't know.
Our purse stings can be tied pretty tight trying to keep up with the Jills. Due to the economy may stores are having great sales, so even if we must have a brand new pair of shoes, we can find great deals. Or maybe, we can find a rich man like Rebecca did in the movie. One never knows.
PS. If eBay sells the wardrobe from the movie, I am afraid I will be in trouble. :( - 16755
